About

Passion. Vision. Experience.

History

Since 2017, Mitch Chesney has successfully built and led sales engineering organizations, starting with AppDynamics, which was later acquired by Cisco Systems for $3.7B. While at AppDynamics, he played a key role in leading the New York City Sales Engineering team to become the #1 region in the world for two consecutive years, achieving quota retirements in excess of 200%. After this accomplishment, he led the San Francisco HQ team where he prioritized fostering a strong culture based on shared purpose and interdepartmental collaboration. His expertise in developing people and building systems were sought after by two emerging data analytics companies, Imply Data and Rockset, where he led the Global Technical Sales organizations and where revenues at each doubled in less than12 months.

Mitch began his professional journey with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and realized that his passion for technology was best suited to a customer-facing, post-sale/solutions engineering role where he could directly provide value to clients. He was recognized as an expert in application observability (APM) and was subsequently recruited by Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Online where he successfully mapped and monitored the $1B MyMagicPlus initiative - spanning Disney World, Disney Land, and Disney Cruise studios. Upon joining AppDynamics as a sales engineer, he quickly earned a reputation as an outstanding performer, receiving Top SE of the Quarter, Top SE of the Year, and multiple President's Club accolades.

Mitch currently mentors individuals and advises early-stage startups for sales strategy, scale, and hiring. He’s been a guest on several podcasts and is an infrequent contributor to Medium.com. He lives in the San Francisco, CA with his wife, Marissa, and adopted dog, Wes, and is an avid outdoor adventurer.

Philanthropy

Giving back through social and environmental responsibility

Growing up in a small town, I inherited a legacy of hard work and community from my parents. They ingrained in me the profound importance of giving back. Today, I carry that ethos into my life's journey, driven by the belief that philanthropy is not just about personal success but leaving the world better than I found it. My commitment to making a positive impact reflects the lessons of my upbringing — a testament to the transformative power of kindness and collective efforts.
